Vertical Jump Profiles

The ultimate proxy for explosive power. Learn how jump mechanics translate directly to track performance and acceleration.

Measuring Explosive Power

The vertical jump is widely regarded by strength and conditioning coaches as the gold standard for measuring explosive lower-body power. Unlike a squat or a deadlift which measures absolute strength, the vertical jump requires the athlete to produce maximum force in a very short window of time—exactly what is required during the first 10 meters of a sprint.

The Flight Time Method

SpeedTrackr uses the Flight Time Method to calculate jump height. By using AI to detect the exact frame of takeoff and the exact frame of landing, we can determine the time spent in the air. Using the physics constant for gravity (9.81 m/s²), we can derive the precise height of the jump. This is the same scientific principle used by expensive electronic jump mats and force plates found in professional combines.
