Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use the SpeedTrackr Android app (SpeedTrackr Sprint & VBT), the speedtrackr.com website, and related support services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to run and improve the app. This may include:
- Account details: Name, email, and profile details when you sign in with Google or create an account.
- Usage data: How you use the app, including device type, operating system, and activity logs.
- Training data: Session results such as reaction times, sprint times, and progress logs used to show your training history.
- Past sprint analysis reports: AI Sprint Analysis is no longer offered in the app. If you used it before 16 September 2026, the written reports it produced are still stored with your account so you can open them from History. The video frames used for those reports were not kept after processing, and your original video files were never uploaded.
- Camera access: Timing Gates and reaction features need camera access so the app can see motion at the start or finish line. Most of this processing happens on your phone.
- Timing Gate improvement data: When you use Timing Gates, the finish phone records a short capture of each crossing and sends it to us when you are signed in with Google. Captures made while you are signed out stay on your phone and are sent after you sign in. We never upload your full camera video. A capture can include:
- A strip of camera pixels along the finish line for the moments around the crossing. Put together, these can show the outline and clothing of whoever crossed.
- From app version 1.2.2 (127), a photo of the finish area at the moment of the crossing (a small, low-resolution image). This photo can show the athlete and anyone else who was in view, including their face.
- Session details such as distance, device model, app version, light level, and the time measured.
- How the finish was answered on the card (for example, confirmed, rejected, or marked as a test), and a scrambled athlete reference instead of a name. We do not store your email address with a capture.
- Purchase data: Google Play tells us what you bought (for example credits or a subscription) so we can unlock features. We do not receive or store your card details.
- Analytics data: Which screens and tools you open, and an approximate country and city that our analytics provider works out from your IP address.
- Website cookies: Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Analytics cookies are optional and are only set on the website after you accept them in our cookie banner. If you choose "Essential only", or make no choice at all, we do not load our analytics tools.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the SpeedTrackr Android app.
- Personalize your training experience and show your progress.
- Confirm purchases and unlock credits or subscription features.
- Communicate about the app, training features, and important updates.
- Send push notifications (such as training reminders) when enabled. You can change this in your device settings.
- Show the sprint analysis reports you created before the feature was retired.
- Improve Timing Gates accuracy using finish-line captures and crossing photos from Timing Gates sessions.
- Understand which features are used and in which countries, so we know what to build next. We publish only aggregate country totals, never anything about an individual.
3. Third-Party Services
We work with trusted partners to deliver the app:
- Google Play Billing: Handles all in-app purchases and subscriptions on Android. We never see your payment card details.
- Resend: Sends transactional emails such as receipts or account notices when needed.
- Amazon Cognito & Google Firebase Auth: Help with secure sign-in and account management.
- Google Drive: Stores Timing Gate improvement captures, including crossing photos, in a private folder that only our team can access.
- PostHog: Product analytics for the app — which features are used, and approximate country and city worked out from your IP address.
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: Load and run website measurement tags. These only run once you accept analytics cookies.
- Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights: Aggregate website traffic and page performance. These only load once you accept analytics cookies.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard protections (including encrypted connections) to help keep your data safe from unauthorized access. Your training data is treated as confidential.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data when:
- You ask us to, or give clear consent.
- It is needed for trusted partners who help us run the app under appropriate safeguards.
- The law requires it (for example a valid legal request).
- It is necessary to protect SpeedTrackr, our users, or the public.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- View or update your profile and training history in the app.
- Delete your account from the Profile section in the app. Account deletion is permanent. Your logs, sessions, and history will be removed within 30 days. Timing Gate improvement captures are stored without your email address, so they are not removed automatically; they are kept for up to 24 months (see the next point). Full steps, including how to delete without the app, are on our Delete Account page.
- Ask us to delete Timing Gate captures, including crossing photos, that show you or someone you are responsible for. Email us with the date and approximate time of the session and we will find and delete them.
- Turn off camera or notification permissions in your device settings. Without camera access, Timing Gates and related features will not work.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play.
- Opt out of marketing emails if we send them.
- Change your website cookie choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the cookie banner back.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
